Activision Blizzard Lets 100 Go At Radical, says Report (PC)

The path to profitability is not always an easy or kind one, something the good folks at Radical Entertainment know all too well right now. Two major projects and roughly 100 employees have gotten the cut at the Canadian developer.

The Vancouver Sun is reporting that roughly 100 employees are being laid off from developer Radical Entertainment. These staff reductions are a result of parent company Activision Blizzard's decision to reduce the developer's number of projects in half.

"Activision Blizzard is committed to making the best games possible and has elected at this time to reduce the number of titles that Radical is developing from four games to two," said Leah Rubin, Radical's vice-president of human resources, to the Sun. "Therefore, we will be proportionately reducing the size of our studio."

Since the merger of Activision Blizzard entered its final stages, the studio has evaluated all of the projects under former Vivendi Entertainment for likely profitability. The games Prototype and Crash: Mind Over Mutant are being retained by Activision Blizzard, meaning that the planned sequel to Scarface: The World is Yours has likely gotten the cut.
