More pics of Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time hit the Web (the Huffington Post, to be exact) over the weekend. The film, set for release in May 2010, roughly follows the story in the 2003 game with the same name. Prince Dastan (Gyllenhaal) and Princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) pair up to save the Sands of Time from the evil Nizam (Ben Kingsley).
Jordan Mechner, the Prince of Persia game creator, is involved in the film, but says fans of the series shouldn't expect an exact translation from game to film.
"If I'd tried to adapt the game's storyline beat for beat into a screenplay, we would have wound up with a 'B'-level survival-horror movie about a warrior prince who spends most of his time fighting off ravaging, zombie-like sand creatures -- basically, Resident Evil in the desert," Mechner says in a previous GameDaily interview. "You might make a good movie from that, but it definitely wouldn't be a Disney-Bruckheimer 'A'-level summer blockbuster."
Mechner says he, instead, worked on turning the game into "an epic, swashbuckling, action-adventure movie in the tradition of Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Mask of Zorro, and Pirates of the Caribbean."

he looks totally goofy. i think it's the lack of expression on his face. "i don't even know where i am."
