Prince of Persia: The Fallen King Review (DS)

Frustrating controls and a lack of extras bump this king off his throne.

In Ubisoft's DS adventure, Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, you control the nameless Prince as he battles the evil Ahriman. Although it looks attractive, thanks to outstanding Egyptian style scenery, the controls almost ruin the game. Instead of controlling the Prince with the d-pad, you maneuver him with the touch screen. You'll double-tap to roll him under things, tap along walls to jump, draw a slash mark in the middle of objects to slice them and so on. While novel, it makes precision jumps nearly impossible. This results in a lot of trial and error, and if you beat the game, there's little reason to play it again. Sadly, this Prince never earns his crown.
