Nintendo recently announced its plan to include a Poke Walker with Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver (remakes of the classic Gold and Silver video games) for the DS. What does this neat device do, you ask? It gives you another excuse to carry your battle monsters wherever you go, among other things.
The wireless pedometer actually lets you train one Pokemon while you're on the move. Simply walk down the street (or several miles) and your furry friend will grow stronger. In addition, the device generates watts that enable you to snag wild Pokemon and locate tools that you can upload into both DS games; you can sync both devices to transfer data. Think Personal Trainer: Walking, but actually fun.
Can't say we disagree with Nintendo's decision. Yes, it's a marketing ploy, but at the same time, this may encourage kids (and out of shape adults) to get off the couch and go outside; we already have plans to bring it with us to the gym. As for Heart Gold and Soul Silver, we expect them stateside late 2009/early 2010.

i'm not generally interested in the new pokemon games OR pedometers in general but somehow when you combine them it becomes something i totally want.
