If you're near the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and you happen to be one of the millions of worldwide Pokemon fans, you might want to ditch Mickey for a few hours this weekend.

The world's first Pokemon Video Game Showdown and the 2008 Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) World Championships starts on Saturday, August 16 through August 17 and takes place at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort. Attendees will watch as 32 of the best American players and 32 of the best Japanese players of all ages, use their trainer skills to compete for a six-day vacation package for four to New York City, Honolulu or Tokyo.

Top TCG players will have a chance to win various Pokemon related prized and a chance at some of the scholarship awards totaling $100,000.

For non-competitors, costumed characters including Pikachu, Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig and Lucario will be on hand to help cheer on trainers.
