Today, Hothead Games announced that Torque 360 has been chosen as the game engine for Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness. The GarageGames game engine was chosen for its cross platform support. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness is described as a "deranged comic-book-meets-pulp-horror universe" where detectives must solve mysteries and battle bizarre enemies.
"Using Torque in development of Penny Arcade Adventures really helped us get up to speed quickly and has helped us bring the game to more gamers," said Vlad Ceraldi of Hothead Games. "Our first title, On the Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 1 will be fully cross platform (Windows, Mac and Linux), and of course the game launches on Xbox Live Arcade in just a few days. Rather than building platform code from from the ground up, using Torque gave us far more time to hone the actual game."
"Torque keeps improving with every trial. The Hothead team took Torque in a unique rendering direction and we learned a lot from that. To Hothead's huge credit, the results are awesome," said Brett Seyler, VP Business Development at GarageGames. "Looking at the game now, it's a blast to play and definitely faithful to the Penny Arcade Comic's style and humor."
