The Seattle-based PopCap, responsible for such games as Bejeweled and Peggle, is one of the few companies that's starting to make so-called "casual" games appeal to a more hardcore gaming crowd. Case in point, at a recent pre-E3 editor's week, I watched several of my peers obsessively fire up their laptops to play the then newly released Plants vs. Zombies while being shuttled from publisher to publisher.
Point is, we love PopCap over here at GameDaily and think it's cool (no bull) that the company's reaching out to fans to design a new level for Peggle.
Some of the entries so far look like solid candidates -- we liked the level that uses the London Tower Bridge as a backdrop -- but our heart's settled on this entry from Will, age 13. His level stars a rat named "Chewey" and his special power would be three balls of cheese that "bounces like crazy." Please, PopCap, use Chewey in your next game, crude line drawings and everything!
