Rule over your domain in Codemasters' Overlord: Dark Legend, a game built from the ground up on Wii. A prequel to the original game, you play as a 16-year-old Overlord in training that leaves Castle Gromgard in the hopes of crushing all who oppose him (and even those who don't). Instead of pulverizing enemies by your lonesome, a gang of gremlin-like critters called minions do your bidding. Thanks to a user-friendly control scheme, you point the Wii Remote at the screen to instruct the little buggers where to go next, then watch as they destroy everything and collect valuable loot for their master. You can boss around up to 25 minions at once, and they come in four types: brown (melee specialists), red (throw fire), green (resistant to poison) and blue (can revive deceased minions and swim).

We enjoyed stomping through the game's fairytale environments attacking gingerbread men, stomping wolves and shaking minions to make them explode. That said, Dark Legend attractive visuals often force the action to chug, an overabundance of minions makes the game far too easy and at times incompetent artificial intelligence forces you to reissue the same commands to brain dead minions. If you can deal with those issues, then you'll probably enjoy this dark and destructive adventure.
