Another twist was recently added to the drama of the latest Oddworld title. The good news is that the Xbox version of the game was given a specific release date, namely January 25th. The game has also been given an official title: Oddworld Stranger's Wrath. The bad news is that the PS2 version of the game is no longer listed on EA Games' webpage, something that doesn't bode well for that version of the game.
Oddworld 4 has seen as tumultuous a development cycle as any game over the past year. Oddworld Inhabitants, the game's developer, has seen Atari sell its 50 percent share in the company back in return for publishing royalties. Later, Microsoft dropped it's publishing rights to the title. However, Oddworld Inhabitants held out until Electronic Arts agreed to publish their next Oddworld title, then tentatively named Oddworld Stranger. The initial plans with EA stated that Stranger would come to both the PS2 and the Xbox, which was quite a turn of events compared to Oddworld Stranger's Wrath's previous status as an Xbox-exclusive title published by Microsoft. However, this latest news makes the PS2 version of the game now seem unlikely to ever see the light of day.
