To save your ladder status, simply exit the NFL ladder challenge by selecting the "Exit NFL Challenge" option. You can still play your 'quick games' or 'pickup games' and go back to the ladder if you wish. Finish out your ladder before you complete your challenge mode or you will lose your ladder status.
