The Making of a (Campus) Legend - Part IV (XB360)

Our legend may be the greatest safety of all time. Do Heisman voters agree? Find out in part four of our exclusive series.

Like many before him, Killer accepts his fate and follows his path to NCAA superstardom.
Charles Woodson is the only defensive player to win the Heisman trophy. Thanks to closed-minded Heisman, voters in 2010, Woodson will remain the only defensive player to enjoy that steak dinner at the Downtown Athletic Club.

That's because, despite being a four-time All American and a three-time winner of the Thorpe award for outstanding defensive back, our intrepid free safety Johnny Killer is robbed again of football's highest honor. Hey, we're not bitter or anything -- it would have been nice if Killer could have returned a few kicks ala Woodson and had a crack at the Heisman. Whatever. Killer doesn't even like steak. He eats wide receivers for dinner.

Still, Killer had quite the career, and we had one hell of a time guiding him through NCAA Football 08's Campus Legend mode. It truly is one of the most addicting modes in sports gaming, even if you play as an offensive lineman, thanks to a unique role-playing take on college football. It's not without its quirks though; Campus Legend is a great reason why NCAA 08 is among the best football games to hit the market in the last two years, which you can read all about in GameDaily's exclusive NCAA review.

Killer's senior season was a wild one. To start, his USC Trojans began the season ranked at No. 21, but after beating No. 9 Ohio State at the Horseshoe in week two, USC moved up to only 16. And wouldn't you know it that the Buckeyes were ranked at 15. The following week USC took out No. 22 California to improve to 3-0. Still, Ohio State is somehow ranked higher than USC, as well as one-loss teams Florida, Miami and LSU. Oh, and Tennessee is ranked No. 1 in the country in week five ... with only one loss. Simply impossible. EA couldn't have gotten these rankings worse if it hired Skip Bayless and his makeup artist to write down the top 25 teams in crayon and then randomly draw the names out a an old football helmet.
