For the third year in a row, 2K Sports has the best basketball game available. NBA 2K8 has vast improvements, tweaking an already capable engine with fresh animations and change-ups. 24/7 Mode has taken a backseat in favor of NBA Blacktop, a collection of fun alternative activities playable online and locally. The main b-ball game itself is superb, even with minor squabbles involving lay-ups and slightly overpowering artificial intelligence. The spectacular visuals and on-target commentary make the presentation worth checking out. Don't forget Association Mode either -- it's a must for wannabe coaches. With all these improvements, this game is a slam-dunk.
