It's impossible to miss New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez. The seven-foot standout uses his size and skills to punish players in the paint. In just two years, Lopez has become a shot blocking, rim-rattling monster with a huge upside. That bodes well for the rebuilding New Jersey Nets, especially with an upcoming move to Brooklyn.
We recently caught up with Lopez at the NBA 2K10 party to talk basketball and video games.

Expect Brook to have a huge impact on the Nets this season.Click to see more images from the game...
So what have you done this summer to improve your game?
I've been traveling and playing a lot of basketball. I've been in Beijing, London and Tokyo working camps and also working out.
What are your favorite video games of all time?
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is number one, no question. Also Kingdom Hearts. I'm a huge Kingdom Hearts fan and can't wait for the new one.
What do you like so much about Kingdom Hearts?
It's an odd mix, but a good mix. The story's good. It's just a fun game.
Since you played ball with your brother in college, how was it being away from him last year?
It was pretty tough, but with all of the modern conveniences like iChat, Facebook and texting, it made it a lot easier.
It must be really hard for your mom, right?
[Laughs] She goes from Fresno to Phoenix and then New Jersey, so it's like a triangle.
What are some of the hardships of being in the NBA?
It can be frustrating, like when you're not playing well or not playing at all for some reason. That's why it's good to have him in the league going through it at the same time. We can definitely talk about that.
What do you think about the Nets moving to Brooklyn?
I mean, if it goes through, it would be great for us. I don't exactly know what's going on though.
Would a move like that intensify the rivalry between the Nets and Knicks?
Most definitely. We'd be moving on their turf.
What's your favorite sport besides basketball?
I played volleyball in high school, and I watch baseball and soccer a lot.
Since you're a pro athlete, is it tough giving up other sports you love?
Yeah. I was going to play volleyball in college, but it conflicted too much, so I have to go around it a bit.
What are you looking forward to this season?
It's going to be interesting, because with Vince [Carter] being traded, there are spots open on the offensive end for scoring. We have a lot of good young guys like Terrence Williams, Courtney Lee and Chris Douglas-Roberts. It's going to be good to see how they flourish in this situation.
Have you guys been able to mesh?
Yes. We've been working out and playing together. With Devin [Harris] being our all-star and us playing around him, it should be good.
Looking forward to seeing what happens. Take care.
