The defining moment of the NBA All-Star weekend? How about Lebron James dunking over Dirk Nowitzki to punctuate the East's win, or perhaps Dwight Howard throwing down a Superman jam on his way to the dunk contest title? Maybe. But many of the great moments of this year's stellar All Star weekend -- among the most enjoyable of the last decade -- happened off camera. No pre-game show, no talking heads, and no Charles Barkley. Here's what you didn't see on TNT.

PlayStation Hearts Kids

Sony donated this NBA 08 skinned PS3 to the New Orleans Children's Hospital.

On Friday, Sony had organized a visit with NBA 08 cover athlete Amare Stoudemire to visit the New Orleans Children's Hospital, but because of a number of scheduling snafus the Phoenix Suns' star couldn't make it. Sony tried valiantly to find a replacement -- former cover athletes Ray Allen and Kobe Bryant were booked with charity events of their own. We even joked about tracking down Tom Chambers, Thunder Dan Majerle or Rik "the Dunkin' Dutchman" Smits as last-minute replacements. Had Sony known Detlef Schrempf was in town we would have had something. Not to be dismayed, the PlayStation team stocked a van full of games, PS3 consoles, PS2 consoles and PSP handhelds and headed over to the hospital without a seven-footer in tow. That was a big enough effort for the kids, however. Sony went so far as to construct the ultimate mobile game station that can be wheeled into the rooms of kids that aren't able to leave their beds. Now that's an All Star effort.
