For years, young girls all over the world have enjoyed the Nancy Drew mystery books. The red-haired teenage sleuth has won legions of fans, solving mysteries that range from jewel thieves to curious ghosts and more. Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock brings the very first Nancy Drew novel to your desktop, bringing the gamer into an interactive environment and placing them in the shoes of the famous detective.
In The Secret of the Old Clock, Nancy Drew is asked to help out an acquaintance, Emily Crandall, who is reeling from the recent death of her mother and struggling to keep the family inn in business. Emily has called Nancy to ask her to hide her mother's jewelry in Nancy's father's safe, because she is worried that the jewelry is unsafe in the inn, and that if it is stolen, she will have no way to keep the inn open. Emily explains to Nancy that she has seen and heard unusual things in the old inn, and she feels that something fishy is going on. She also tells Nancy that an old neighbor has recently passed away, and has left his entire estate to an ESP expert rather than to Emily, as he had promised. Nancy agrees to keep Emily's jewelry safe, but before she can bring it home, it is stolen from the inn. Nancy soon finds herself deep into solving all of the mysteries surrounding Emily Crandall's old inn, and using her unique problem-solving skills to get to the bottom of all of the peculiarities that abound.
Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock requires that the gamer be able to pay attention to details and remember small facts. Nancy carries around a notebook in which she jots down notes, but it helps to have a good memory in order to make the game go faster. The game has certain RPG elements, in that when Nancy is talking to another person, the player can choose her responses and questions to steer the conversation in the way they want it to go.
Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock is a pretty tough game, but mystery buffs and Nancy Drew fans will have a blast playing as the famous sleuth. The game includes two modes, Junior Sleuth and Senior Sleuth, so gamers of different levels can enjoy the game equally. If you like a challenge and a good mystery, definitely check out Nancy Drew: Secret of the Old Clock!
