Off-road racing fans, rejoice. THQ has given you a "better late than never" holiday gift with MX Vs. ATV Untamed, where you pull off stunts while flying hundreds of feet in the air with a number of vehicles. With that being said, this "extreme" racer doesn't live up to its name, thanks to some annoying flaws.

You start by choosing from various events throughout a campaign or for quick racing. Endurocross is probably the trickiest of the new additions, where you'll contend with ruthless competition while avoiding on-track debris. Opencross events are a little easier, if only because they let you focus more on speed and less on dodging objects. The X-Cross Tournament is a nicely mixed campaign with various stages. There's a wide-open map of events to choose from, both indoor and outdoor.

One cool thing about MX Vs. ATV is that you don't just stick to motocross vehicles. Over the course of the game, you'll purchase other rides to get down and dirty with, including monster trucks, trophy trucks, buggies and our personal favorite, golf carts. These vehicles provide a little extra oomph to Untamed's racing physique, though you won't discover anything amazingly new.

In fact, most of Untamed's content feels familiar. The controls are mostly unchanged from Unleashed, as you're still tightening up around corners, using the clutch to get the best speed from your ride and launching yourself high in the air by performing a quick analog stick motion at the peak of the jump (back, then forward). It's fun, but doesn't offer anything we haven't experienced before. At least the stunt and camera systems operate easier. You use button presses to perform various tricks and the right analog stick to change your on-the-fly angle.
