Activision's Monsters vs. Aliens follows events from the popular film and challenges you to defeat Gallaxhar as The Missing Link, Ginormica and B.O.B. To keep things interesting, the developers crafted unique game types for each character. The Missing Link's missions play more like a standard action adventure as you bust things up and attack enemies. Ginormica, meanwhile, uses vehicles as skates and B.O.B. passes through objects and regurgitates things at bad guys. Excessive loading and some cheap deaths (it's often difficult figuring out where B.O.B. can go and where he can't) knock the game down a few pegs, but overall, Monsters vs. Aliens is surprisingly good for a movie licensed game. Its varied levels keep things from too repetitive and the slapstick humor will amuse children. Drop in/Drop out co-op lets a friend blast bad guys as the unseen Dr. Cockroach, and on the Wii version, players will break things and perform skate moves with their remotes. While not a deep or especially polished adventure, it'll keep you entertained for a weekend.
