Speaking to Videogamer.com, senior vice president of EA Games Europe Patrick Soderlund confirmed that work has already begun on a sequel to Mirror's Edge. The fate of the IP had been in doubt, after disappointing sales and reviews that criticized the game as short, frustrating and poorly narrated.

"Mirror's Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn't perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think," said Soderlund. "You will see another Mirror's Edge for sure. It's just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I'm excited about what we do."

The ideas behind Mirror's Edge struck us as more cool in theory than they were in practice, so hopefully EA Dice can smooth certain issues out for the sequel.
