Outside of Wii Sports Resort, Nintendo fans won't find a better value than Metroid Prime Trilogy. This thoroughly entertaining compilation includes all three Metroid Prime video games, with the first two (Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes) outfitted with the same motion controls as the third installment. Finally, after struggling with the GameCube controller with the first two games, players control bounty hunter Samus Aran with the Wii Remote and nunchuk, physically maneuvering both devices to explore vibrant alien worlds teeming with monsters and space pirates. In addition, all three games display in 16:9 widescreen, a feature that's sure to please Wii owners with HDTVs.

Although Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 debuted in 2002 and 2004, respectively, both games hold up well compared to the final chapter. Each offers something unique, as the original was Samus' first 3-D adventure (the Scan Visor adds so much depth to the story) and the sequel introduced light and dark worlds that Nintendo's heroine travels between. Finally, Corruption pits the blonde bombshell against her evil alter ego, Dark Samus, while incorporating the Wii's motion controls in new and exciting ways (pulling back to yank open a door, for example).

Sure, you'll probably curse out loud after dying at the hands of a tough boss, but Metroid Prime Trilogy is worth $49.99. Not only do you receive three outstanding video games, but the package comes with a commemorative booklet and metal case. If you grew tired of these games years ago, then move along. But if you love Metroid and want to experience the first two adventures with more user friendly controls, happily indulge in this creature blasting, planet hopping trilogy.
