Fans of the Metroid series were pumped with Samus returned for her first Nintendo Wii adventure, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Since then, Metroid fans anxiously have awaited her next adventure. Today, Nintendo threw them a bone with announcement of Metroid Prime Trilogy for Nintendo Wii. As you might surmise from the name, the single-disc compilation-style set will re-introduce Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echos and Metroid Prime 3.
Of course, the older games, will receive makeovers with Wii Remote controls, widescreen presentations, other enhancements and a new unlockables system that will reward players with in-game music and images but each game will retaining their original storylines. Metroid Prime Trilogy rolls into retail on Aug. 24 for about $49.99.
Given the fact that Nintendo's new "New Play Control!" series has taken older games (Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis), added Wii Remote controllers and re-released the games to players seems to give an indication about Nintendo's new marketing direction... either that, or this is its answer to hardcore players wanting better games on the Nintendo Wii.
