Solid Snake bids farewell in Konami's PlayStation 3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. A remarkable blend of Hollywood caliber cut scenes and a memorable soundtrack thrusts an old and cynical Snake into an epic struggle to kill his evil brother, Liquid. Though preachy and at times long-winded, the gripping narrative features unforgettable characters and over the top action sequences. On the battlefield, you'll love sneaking past enemies, courtesy of Snake's effective OctoCamo, which enables him to blend into environments, and the game's well-stocked armory puts pistols, rocket launchers and sniper rifles into your hands. That said, combat is good, not outstanding, and enemies act foolishly. While Metal Gear Solid 4 is the most impressive cinematic achievement in gaming, its less impressive gameplay doesn't match its superior presentation.User Reviews

Solid Snake has been through a lot the past 20 years. Now, it's finally coming to an end. The graphics look amazing and you'll barely find blurs. You'll only find them if you look as closely as possible. It even has plenty of improvements. For one, the camoflauge system is way easier with the octocamo. At the beginning though, his head is exposed but the people still don't notice it. If you hate this, you'll rather hate all the other games. All the other people were like that. The bad guys are known for their stupidity. The bosses are incredible, the cutscenes are long but blow your mind. You will never want to skip them on your first playthrough. I stopped playing it for a month and came back just to see it all over again. The eliminations of the codec are great to. No more talking to heads for 5 hours. The combat is spot on. The graphics are the best you'll see for a long time. Downsides, you will have to sign for a konami id to play online. But who cares. Just sign up for one then never see it again. PLAY ONLINE. It's amazing. If you didn't play the other games, you might want to because the story could get a little confusion. Either way snake earned his rest and will live on forever with a 10 out of 10.

No words can describe the perfection, and value of this priceless game. The game is very long, no one can deny that, but who ever said that long was always bad. At the beginning of the game, the prologue left me speechless, This game was better then playing halo 3, COD 4, and watching the matrix series, plus the bourne series, plus the james bond series, all combined and still better. I'll try my hardest to put the game in short phrases, the story? indescribable. Sound? Sounded like I was there, Graphics? Best EVER the graphics you see in the cut-scenes are the ones you play as during the game. Game play? Addictive. Online? Better then Halo. Extras? Funny :D Women? STILL HOT!!!! Characters? Bad-ass beyond comparison. I think think Jesus re-encarnated himself as a video game, and I just played it..............................

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best thing to happen to the ps3 and even the videogame industry for that matter. The long cut-scenes were great for people who aren't plagued intellectually and don't suffer from severe ADD. The ending was better and even more amazing then most movies. When people say that the gameplay is not as fun as other games I completely disagree. The gameplay is even better because you have so much freedom in how to play the game. You can decide to play it like a first person shooter and shoot everybody or, you can be more tactical and use your octocamo, CQC, and tranquilizer gun to your advantage and be stealthy as hell. Either way you choose to play it the game is still loads of fun. It is gifted with the best storyline out of any videogame. The storyline may be a bit complex for those who have yet to play the other games, although anyone with a little ambition to learn about the story can go download the Metal Gear Solid 4 database. Even people who are new to the series will understand most of it except for the flashback images and voices. This game feels like a movie, but plays like a videogame. Ocasionally when your playing having the screen might be you playing and the other half will some other really cool fight with Raiden. With each cut-scene the controller vibrates, making it feel like your a part of the action, even when your not even playing. All the cool extras such as the ipod, camera, and all the costumes make the game that much better. The assassin's creed costume and the big boss face camo the best extras. The graphics are the best on any console game. The Online great, although it may be intimidating to some because of it's difficulty, but with time and patience you will get better and it will a very enjoyable experience. This is personally my favorite game of all time. Anyone who has a ps3 and doesn't have the game are just plain stupid. Anyone who doesn't have a ps3 should definitely get the Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 bundle.

A game that is a perfect 10 reviewed a poor excuse of a review to enrage all the hardcore gamers out there. A tactic to elicit hate among the gaming community in order to get more web traffic to their website. This review is way off. First and foremost I do commend your ballsy way of giving this OUTSTANDING PERFECT game a score of "8". Remember this game is not Halo or Gears of war, its a MGS4 game for goodness sake. You are meant to watch long cut scenes, refer to older games because the story line is supposed to be that way. Sneak your way through the game without being notice or killing anyone. I dare you to review this game again when the directors version comes out. Plus since you don't work for FAMITSU gave this game a PERFECT 10 ((where reviewers are actually respected for their comments), your review doesnt mean crap.

ok let's stop fo a second. before i start, just let me say i think the game is great. BUT....an 8 is a great score. most of you people who are calling the reviewer a retard decided the game was a 10 before you played it, be honest! you waited years for it to come out, many of you bought the special edition ps3 as well. this game was a 10 to you no matter what. to sit here and call people retards because they don't agree is just dumb. when gears of war came out, a lot of people said, "best game ever!!!" halo 3? "best game of alll time"! when final fantasy 13 comes out? alot of people have already decided it's the best game ever, without playing it. metal gear solid 4 is a great game, but damn, relax! some reviewer giving it an 8 doesn't spoil your purchase! if it was the best game ever...wouldn't you be off playing it now? lol
