Konami today posted the results for the fiscal year ending March 31. The company reported over 309 billion yen worth of sales, a nearly 4 percent increase over the previous year and a record for the company. Profits were only 10 billion yen, a 40 percent drop over the previous year, due to the weakness of the company's other segments, including their health and fitness business, in the flagging economy.
Metal Gear Solid 4 has now pushed past 4.75 million units in worldwide sales, with the Metal Gear Online component boasting 1.3 million registered users. Pro Evolution Soccer saw 8.48 million in sales in the past year, while music titles like Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party and Karaoke Revolution continued to perform well. Konami's Digital Entertainment saw sales of 187 billion yen, a 5 percent increase over last year.
