At yesterday's Game Developers Choice Awards, Hideo Kojima was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. The 45-year-old most recently directed Metal Gear Solid 4 and hopes to take a more hands-off role in the series' development going forward. Upon receiving the award, however, he vowed that he is not looking to retire from games anytime soon.

Harmonix's Alex Rigopolous and Eran Egozy were given the Pioneer Award for popularizing the music game genre with titles like FreQuency, Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Finally, Tommy Tallarico was given the Ambassador Award as an advocate for the gaming industry. Responsible for the musical scores of many titles, Tallarico is perhaps best known as co-creator of the concert series Video Games Live.
