Variety is reporting that David Hayter and Benedict Carver have teamed up to form a production company. Called Dark Hero Studio, the company will help push film, TV, and video game projects that will range in content from action to sci-fi and horror. Perhaps best known to gamers as the voice of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Hayter has also helped write the movies X-Men, X2, The Scorpion King and the recent Watchmen.

"Many people would love to have the studio-based producer gig, but if you want to build asset value through a library, you have to be more entrepreneurial and avoid giving away a lot of rights upfront," Carver said. "David will create, write and direct movies and TV series for the company, but he'll also be a magnet for other writers and directors to work with us. "

The first project for Dark Hero is Demonology, which Hayter wrote and will direct. The company will make sure there are comics and video games to complement the project, with the help of Sarah Freudeman as Dark Hero's director of development.

Hayter notes that Demonology originated in his experiences in an international high school in Japan. "It's about an American kid who goes to one of these schools in Belgium, but it brings my own horrible experiences of school to life," Hayter said.
