This is definitely Mega Man's year, with a ton of games coming out starring the blue hero! We take a look at how he fares on the portable...

If there is one thing Capcom can bank on, it is the fact that people absolutely adore Mega Man and the action found instead the majority of their games. It's almost like getting a box of Cracker Jacks, in all reality. Not only is there some caramel coated popcorn and nuts that are great to nosh on at the ballpark, but there's a toy instead as well. Of course, the toys nowadays don't have the same ability to entrance us when we were kids, but the Mega Man Zero series sure does, and that's something we can really sink our teeth into.
This will be the third installment into the Mega Man Zero series, known for being almost exactly like the classic Mega Man games on the Nintendo Entertainment System - unbelievable enchanting and painstakingly taxing. These two faces of the Mega Man coin, which encased the gameplay throughout the majority of its existence, also prorogated to Mega Man X series. Then it missed its stop on the Battle Network line and has once against stuck its head into another string of Mega Man games, this time in the Zero series.
On this ride through the world of maniacal robots and those damnable spikes that is Mega Man Zero, a bad fellow named Omega has come around to do the veritable memory wipe on your buddies, and you're the only one who escape this process unscathed. Guess what you have to do now - save your friends who don't remember being your friends so they can remember being your friends so you can be friends again.
You're not going to be able to do this without some kickin' rad upgrades and some help, though. One of the new additions is the Recoil Rod, which gives you the boost those Reebok Pumps promised, and never delivered. Also, you've got a customization system that will allow you to tinker with various chips, allowing you to tailor Zero to different environments, most presumably swapping out these components based on a level's heat and cold.
Another new addition comes in the form of Cyber Elves, a type of cyber pet that grants various beneficial bonuses to Zero. To power them up even more, you can collect Secret Discs scattered throughout the world that, when analyzed, can give you Cyber Elf power ups or important data. We're a little blase on the issue of the Cyber Elves, seeing how such additions to games seems to be a standard addition to add variety, but hopefully this can be different.
With the track record Mega Man legacy has had with the number three, Zero 3 will be under rigorous scrutiny not only as a game in its on series, but as a bigger part of the picture. If it succeeds, it continues on the mantle and belief that when Mega Man and the second of the prime numbers collide it spawns a title that overshadows the rest in its respective series. However, if it fails to surpass the first two installments, Zero 3 will not be exalted high with its brethren, but remember only as 'that game,' and nobody wants that to happen.
