While Fox News has yet to issue any kind of correction, and EA has made it clear that they have no intention to debate Fox on the air, at least author Cooper Lawrence (whose book was slammed with negative reviews on Amazon) has come forward to apologize for her comment regarding BioWare's Mass Effect. Lawrence was the "expert" Fox invited to their skit to talk about the "full nudity" in the game. She was opposed by Spike TV's Geoff Keighley, who described the whole segment as "off the wall."

Now Lawrence has told The New York Times that she regrets what she said on the air.

"I recognize that I misspoke," Lawrence admitted. "I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke."

Since her appearance on Fox and the ensuing controversy, Lawrence said that she watched someone play Mass Effect for around two and a half hours.

She added, "Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it's like pornography. But it's not like pornography. I've seen episodes of Lost that are more sexually explicit."

As for BioWare, the independent developer certainly didn't appreciate all the unwarranted negativity thrown at their game by Fox. "We're hurt," commented chief executive Ray Muzyka. "We believe in video games as an art form, and on behalf of the 120 people who poured their blood and tears into this game over three years, we're just really hurt that someone would misrepresent the game without even playing it. All we can hope for is that people who actually play our games will see the truth."
