This should take gamers back a bit. Capcom has decided to stop supporting the online functionality of four of its older PlayStation 2 titles today. These games required their own servers and a third-party USB device from KDDI to connect.

The titles that are affected are Auto Modellista, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Mobile Suit Gundam Federation Vs. Zeon DX and Marvel V.s Capcom 2. These games could connect online only at 56k using KDDI's proprietary device. However, Mobile Suit Gundam Federation Vs. Zeon DX and Marvel V.s Capcom 2 were released for both the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 and gamers on either platform could play each other online, using their respective services, a unique feature even today.

The KDDI solution has been replaced for sometime by the Multi-Matching Broadband service from Sony. This of course allows for higher bandwidth and a solution that is housed under the Sony umbrella.
