We have a love/hate relationship with 2K Sports' Major League Baseball 2K9. First the good, the company earns high marks for an improved Franchise Mode, smoother online play, a grand presentation (including a splendid announce team) and mostly solid gameplay. We enjoyed blasting homers out of the park with a flick of the control stick, or zipping a ball to home plate for the easy out. On the downside, the game stumbles because of some mild bugs that cause some strange instances, like keeping us from catching pop flies. Although MLB 2K9 offers entertaining base-rounding thrills for both Xbox 360 and PS3, these issues prevent it from topping Sony's higher-quality MLB 09: The Show.
