The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has announced the nominees for the 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, and Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet for PS3 is the clear leader of the pack with 10 nominations, including Overall Game of the Year, Console Game of the Year, Outstanding Innovation in Gaming, and more. Other finalists that earned multiple nominations include Epic's Gears of War 2, Valve's Left 4 Dead, Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4, Bethesda's Fallout 3 and Lionhead's Fable II.
The winners will be revealed during the awards ceremony at D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit 2009, on February 19th at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. Comedian and actor Jay Mohr will once again host the event (his fourth time).
"This was an exciting year for games," said Joseph Olin, president, AIAS. "The depth of talent and creativity in this industry continues to amaze me and we are honored to highlight some of the most impressive games of the year at the Interactive Achievement Awards. The 2009 nominees indeed reflect a stronghold of talent embodying the best and brightest in this field."
A full list of nominees will be made available at the Academy's official website.
