NCsoft today released their fiscal results for the first quarter of 2009. The online company announced sales of 133.4 billion Korean Won ($107.7 million), up more than a third over last quarter, and profits of 33.5 billion Korean Won ($27.0 million), an increase of over 400 percent compared to last year. NCsoft attributed these positive results based on the stability of the Lineage series, sales of Aion and reduction in marketing spending.
"Aion has solidified its position as a new growth force without encroaching sales of the Lineage series," said NCsoft's CFO Jaeho Lee. "Starting with its service in China in Q2, we are ready for a successful launch of this triple-A franchise in Japan, Taiwan, North America and Europe within the second half of the year."
For the coming quarters, NCsoft will launch upgrades for Lineage and Lineage II and begin beta tests of titles like Dragonica, Steel Dog and Metal Black.
