Strong with the Force, this one still is.

LucasArts revisits George Lucas' universe for Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. It doesn't do anything incredibly new over the previous releases, but it's a fun romp for all ages. On top of that, it has a couple of new additions that almost justify the $50 price tag.
In the game, you play through all six chapters of the Star Wars movies, starting with the Phantom Menace and concluding with Return of the Jedi. Throughout the game, you'll play as various characters, such as the lightsaber-wielding Obi Wan Kenobi or the blaster-ready Han Solo. Each character serves a purpose, even ones that you might consider worthless at first. Jar Jar Binks, for example, utilizes a double jump to reach higher surfaces. C-3PO wanders around slowly, but can open doors to areas inaccessible to others. The meshing of puzzle solving with straight-up action really carries this game, adding a brain to go along with the brawn.
The visuals don't look amazing. The characters resemble Lego figures, with light shining off their fake body parts and cute little expressions on their faces. The settings stay true to the nature of Star Wars, as you run around inside huge space vessels and wander through the city of Mos Eisley. It all runs at sixty frames per second and only skips intermittently, mostly during transition from gameplay to cut-scenes and back again. The music is pure Star Wars, with John Williams' orchestrated music playing throughout and classic sound effects. The buzzing hum of the lightsaber is still undeniably cool. We could've done without Jar Jar's jabbering, though. Someone shut him up.
