Valve PR man Doug Lombardi has offered further confirmation that the company will continue to support hit co-op zombie game Left 4 Dead. In a recent interview with CVG, Lombardi said that new downloadable content for the 360/PC game will be announced before the end of the summer.
From the interview:
I think 8, 9 months from now once everything's been out for a while and everyone's had time to see the complete product of Left 4 Dead 2 and see continued support for Left 4 Dead 1, they may sort of see what we were up to and what the method of our madness was there.
This, of course, should be welcome news to the fans who were worried that the announcement of Left 4 Dead 2 meant Valve would stop creating content (such as the free-to-download Survival Pack released in April) for the original game. Some upset fans even went as far as to threaten boycotting the sequel.
We reached out to Lombardi for additional details on whether the new Left 4 Dead content would also be available as a free download - alas, we were told to be patient: "The announcement will come later this summer."
