When a series shifts from its classic 2D roots to 3D, sometimes the end result is a disaster. Fortunately, King of Fighters: Maximum Impact has survived the transition, and while it's not the best fighting game on the market, it's still got plenty of solid appeal for old-school players and newcomers alike. Despite some serious sound issues and cheap AI, the game is still a winner because of its cool modes, blazing gameplay, and unique cast of characters. If you're into 3D fighters, KOF may have an "impact" on you.
