After getting the Dragon Amulet, equip it with gems that raise your stats (scholar, monk, and warrior). When you run out of the assosiated power, unequip and re-equip the gem to recharge the associated power. After you run out of points, unequip the gem and immediately re-equip it to regain points. This trick works very well with gems that raise all your stats.
