Earlier this year, Microsoft and MEGA Brands announced a deal that would bring Halo Wars to homes in the form of Mega Bloks. A few weeks ago, those toys arrived at retail in six sets as part of the Halo Wars Collector's Edition series, and a rep for the company tells GameDaily that the sets "are selling like hot cakes."
The PR rep also let us know that the company is giving away 10,000 limited edition Halo figurines through the product's web site.
While the Mega Bloks series may have some difficulty since the Halo Wars game failed to reach Halo-like sales for Xbox Live, the sets do capture the look and feel of the characters (Spartans, Grunts and even a Covenant Elite) and vehicles that Halo fans love.

The Mega Bloks Aerial Ambush Set (MSRP $39.99), the biggest of the six sets, gives players a UNSC Hornet vehicle and a Convenant Banshee. Four action figures (1UNSC Flame Marine, 1 UNSC Spartan, 1 Covenant Elite, 1 Covenant Grunt) are also included with the set. For Convenant fans, there's only one set for a Ghost ($9.99). UNSC fans gets the remaining four sets with UNSC Scorpion ($29.99), UNSC Warthog ($19.99), UNSC Hornet ($19.99) and the UNSC Turret $9.99.

Yes, even adults need toys!
After discovering the sets at a local Target and holding the Aerial Assault set up to look more closely, the sets even attracted the attention of two boys (about seven years old) who seemed to know quite a bit about Halo. When their mom came by to gather them, they asked for the Aerial Ambush set, and got a "you're not old enough" after mom saw the 8+ label. Taking the only Ambush set back in hand, the boys looked back... and I stuck my tongue out. MINE! A weekend search to see if the Halo Wars sets were selling well, we went to another Target location and a Toys R Us and found nearly empty shelves.
