The 352 full-color book will serve as a guide to characters, weapons, vehicles, equipment and locations in all of the released Halo games, along with February 2009's Halo Wars real-time strategy game and Halo 3: ODST, set to be released in September.
The encyclopedia will be created in conjunction with Halo's publisher, Microsoft, and will feature a foreword by Frank O'Connor, once the public face of the franchise's developer Bungie.
The Halo video games have found both critical and financial success -- the final installment in the original trilogy, Halo 3, sold over 5.9 million copies, setting the record for highest grossing opening day in entertainment history (the record was later broken by Grand Theft Auto IV).
So far, no word on whether midnight launches or book signings with the Chief are scheduled.
