L’arbiter tente de dissuader tartarus d'utiliser l'icône, bientôt rejoint par Johnson. Malheureusement dans un geste de folie Tartarus active Halo, malgrés les révélations de Guilty Spark. Keyes profite de la confusion pour échapper aux brutes.
Dans leur fuite, les prophétes sont attaqué par des spores floods. Les brutes interviennent, mais Miséricorde est infectés. Abandonné à son triste sort, Vérité part en direction de l’arche avec l'icône. Pendant ce temps là, l'arbiter commence ça quête envers et contre tous, mais... surtout contre les brutes.
