GD:Do you have any particular favorites on the On Tour song list that users should jump into first, or do you like them all equally?
JR: I like the whole set list, but if I had to pick a favorite it would probably be the Red Hot Chili Peppers' song "Knock Me Down." I also think it's cool that we got an extended version of No Doubt's "Spiderwebs" that I don't think many people have heard before. Oh, and there's NOTHING cooler than playing a Guitar Duel on Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It."
GD:Tell us more about the two-player jam modes.
JR: We have four different multiplayer modes that you can play against your friends with any song in the game. Everyone's favorite modes from Guitar Hero are all featured, like Face-Off and Pro Face-Off, as well as Co-op mode where one person plays the lead guitar and the other play bass or rhythm guitar. Then there's the new Guitar Duel mode that'll have you cursing your opponent for lighting your guitar on fire or swap[ing the dual screens mid-note. Like I said before, Guitar Duel was by far our testers' favorite mode to play, so we even created a single player Guitar Duel mode against an A.I. that people can play even without someone around to play it with.
GD:Any chance the game will offer expansion packs in the future? Perhaps we'll see those in a sequel?
JR: We're not announcing anything right now, but I had so much fun making this game that I would love to work on a sequel. One of the most rewarding things I've ever experienced is reading message boards with people thanking us and congratulating us on faithfully recreating their favorite game on the Nintendo DS. That means a lot to us, because we worked for well over a year trying to make a game that we thought the fans would love to play.
GD:Do you think players will get into the control scheme changes, such as using four fret buttons instead of five?
JR: Oh yeah, definitely. Actually, after like 10 seconds of playing on Expert difficulty you'll forget all about the orange button. Just like the first time you played the Guitar Hero guitar, it'll take a few songs before you fully get used to playing with the new controls, but before long it starts to feel pretty natural and you'll find yourself lost in the music. I do recommend that people start playing the game a difficulty lower than they're used to for the first couple songs so you can get used to it before jumping into the difficulty you normally play. The other thing we changed is that you can now activate Star Power by yelling into the microphone. It's really fun, and I've even heard a lot of people brainstorming ideas for what to yell. Some of the funniest ones I've heard so far are "FALCON PUNCH!", "IT'S A TRAP!" and "KHAAAAAAN!" Of course, if you're playing in like a library or something, you can turn off the microphone and activate Star Power by tapping the Star Power Meter.
