Activision announced today the details for new new track packs for Guitar Hero III. The first one, which will be available today, is the Modern Metal pack with master recordings of Deftones' Hole in the Earth, Avenged Sevenfold's Almost Easy and Thrice's The Arsonist. This music pack can be purchased via the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live.
There will also be a special free track pack featuring the Scotch/Irish punk group the Dropkick Murphys. Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, this track pack will feature songs from the band's sixth album, The Meanest of Times. The Dropkick Murphys pack will include master recordings of Famous for Nothing, (F)lannigan's Ball and Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya.
Finally, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced that Activision will be sponsoring the museum. Appropriately, the publisher will sponsor the Cleveland rock museum's exhibit on guitarists like Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain and Jerry Garcia. Activision will also officially sponsor the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be held on March 10 in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria.
"We're incredibly excited about this partnership," said Steve Dobo, Director of Sponsorships for the Rock Hall. "Activision's support not only helps us tell the guitar chapter of the rock and roll story, but it also gives our visitors a chance to step onto the virtual stage and kick out some jams while they're here."
"Where there's music, there's Guitar Hero, and there are countless Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees who've appeared in Guitar Hero," said Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing for Activision/RedOctane. "We are absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to offer visitors a chance to live out their fantasies by playing tracks from the artists they are paying homage to."
