Today, Activision announced that it has partnered with Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation to host a Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock charity challenge. Fans who register for the competition will compete for the highest score possible playing Monster's Matchbook Romance. Activision will donate up to $1 for each participant who registers to play in the event and $100 for every 1,000 points scored by the highest individual score, up to $55,000 for the benefit of the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation.

Activision also announced a second Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock challenge for the seriously ill teenagers and their siblings. The highest scorer from the Guitar Hero community and the Starbright World community will receive an all-expense paid trip for two to California that includes a tour of developer Neversoft Entertainment. Those interested in participating should sign up for the competitions on guitarhero.com before May 2, 2008.
