Activision Secures Exclusive Aerosmith License for Guitar Hero (PS2)

Not entirely shocking considering they have a whole game devoted to the band, but Activision has confirmed that Aerosmith is indeed exclusive to the Guitar Hero franchise for now.

Newsweek has discovered that Activision has managed to secure, for an "unspecified period of time," an exclusive license with the band Aerosmith. This means that with the exception of Train Kept a Rollin', which was licensed to MTV's Rock Band already, the only place you'll see Aerosmith songs is in Guitar Hero.

"I can say that we do have the band exclusively, and their catalogue should be exclusive to us beyond the one or two tracks they had licensed out to Rock Band before we made our deal," confirmed Tim Riley, Activision's vice president of music affairs.

Activision will be shipping a special Aerosmith game this June aptly called Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The game will feature a whole host of songs by the popular band in addition to songs that inspired Steven Tyler and crew. You can check out pre-order details here.
