As most of you know by now, Rockstar Games recently announced the "Double Pack" (GTA III and GTA: Vice City) for both PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Now that everyone knows the Xbox is finally going to receive these insanely popular games, Take-Two has clarified the franchise's exclusivity situation.

During a recent financial conference call, Take-Two CEO Jeff Lapin explained that the company has amended its exclusivity deal with Sony -- a deal that until now prevented any GTA title from appearing on any console other than the PS2. Lapin also made sure to mention that this deal still applies to the next installment in the series, which will definitely be a PS2 title and not for the PS3 as some had speculated. This doesn't mean that other consoles won't see the next GTA; however, Sony does have an unspecified period of exclusivity.

Additionally, although Lapin stated that Take-Two currently does not plan to release GTA on Nintendo's GameCube, he did say that the company would continue to evaluate the system and then decide to release the next installment (post exclusivity period) on other platforms deemed "financially prudent."
