Rockstar's Houser Calls GTA MMO 'Very Compelling' (XB360)

There's a lot of talk of MMO titles being thrown around nowadays, so why not discuss a GTA MMO? Despite calling such a game "doable" and "compelling," it's doubtful that work on it has begun just yet.

Massively.com today revealed details in an EGM interview with Rockstar president Sam Houser. While most of the interview dealt with elements of Grand Theft Auto IV, he also talked about theoretical future scenarios for the franchise. Houser said that a GTA MMO "is very, very doable and is a very, very compelling proposition," adding that a subscription-supported console MMO is "the Holy Grail."

Houser cautioned that making a GTA MMO would not be easy, however. Making any sort of MMO, particularly one that is not an RPG, can be a severe challenge. A GTA MMO could easily degrade into a city with hundreds of players shooting at each other and that sort of chaos wouldn't befit a quality MMO experience, commented Houser.
