Reports this morning surfaced that Sony's PlayStation Store would be getting a revamp in Europe. As it turns out, the digital storefront will be overhauled here in the U.S. as well, Sony Computer Entertainment America confirmed today. When it launches in mid-April (via a firmware update), the new PlayStation Store is expected to offer a "more dynamic look and improved navigation."
Sony also said that starting on April 3, in order to prepare the enhancements no additional downloadable content will be posted prior to the launch. The PlayStation Store itself, however, will remain live and customers will be able to browse and download as usual.
Following the revamp, regularly scheduled PlayStation Store content updates will resume with more games and game-related items. The big seller is expected to be Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The Gran Turismo franchise has generated over a billion dollars.
