Living up to the legacy of the first game, God of War II plays magnificently. The user-friendly controls, combined with the death defying moments push the game over the top. The exquisite cut scenes, voice acting and music -- almost seamlessly blended with the action -- produce one of the most cinematic games in recent memory. Whereas some games feature garbage narratives that players skip, God of War II draws them in with excellent storytelling. People will delight in playing this game, though finding out what happens next still remains far more important.

Gamers will also marvel at the beautiful scenery. Throughout the adventure, they fly across oceans, push through a blizzard and explore a well-crafted fortress. Detailed character and architectural designs make the game stand out amongst the competition, especially since it deals with a time most developers rarely explore. Even while things burn and bleed, God of War II shines, proving that, despite the PlayStation 3 being on the market, its older brother's graphical capabilities still capture and amaze people.

At the same time, while the game feels like a great extension to its prequel, it offers little innovation. It fails to introduce much groundbreaking material, though its brilliance makes it one of the best action adventure games of the year. People want quality. Sony delivered it.

God of War II deserves to be experienced by any player able to play an M-rated game, regardless of preferred console and genre. Not only does it cement the PS2's amazing legacy, it delivers one of the best gaming experiences in the video game history. Play it. Love it. Keep it. Just don't live it.

Final Score: 9 (out of 10)
