GamePolitics is reporting that Sony Computer Entertainment and David Jaffe are being sued for copyright infringement over God of War. The suit was filed by Jonathan Bissoon-Dath and Jennifer Barrette-Herzog, creators of Greek mythological fiction. The plaintiffs say they sent their work to Sony Pictures and other SCEA contacts in 2002, noting that while God of War shipped in 2005, Jaffe said it took three years to complete.

Bissoon-Dath and Barrette-Herzog also claim certain story similarities, between their works and God of War. The plaintiffs say key elements, like Ares' assault on Athens, the accidental slaying of the protagonist's family and even Kratos' Blades of Chaos appear similar to elements in their story.

SCEA and Jaffe are denying any wrongdoing and intend to defend themselves and recoup legal expenses.
