Speaking to UGO, Brett Ratner confirmed that he is collaborating on a God of War movie. This confirms rumors that had been circulating since July 2008 of the Rush Hour director's involvement on the game movie property. His level of involvement on the God of War film, be it director or producer, has not been confirmed.

In response to this news, God of War creator David Jaffe posted his thoughts on this development. The now former SCEA producer, who has no financial stake in the movie, was encouraged by the news. "I really liked Red Dragon, I really liked the first Rush Hour, I really liked even X-Men 3 even though I thought one and two were richer, more meaningful movies; I did think X-Men 3 was the more entertaining movie," said Jaffe in a video blog post. "So I'm not one of these Ratner haters who says the guy can't direct; I think he makes really entertaining movies. So what I told the producer when he said they're seriously looking at Brett Ratner was, 'I think this is pretty cool.'"
