On the same day that the National Institute on Media and the Family issued its annual Video Game Report Card citing an "unacceptable negative impact of excessively violent video games on young people," a prosecutor in the Detroit area has blamed crimes in the city on "violent video game culture" and proposed a boycott this holiday season on certain violent titles.

According to the local ABC News report, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy particularly cited a connection between the rise in youth crime and violent games in the last five to 10 years. "There is no way that anyone can convince me that the horribleness and gruesomeness of the crimes that we've been seeing is not somehow a result, at least in part, of the violent video game culture," she said.

Here's her list of games she wants parents to boycott:

5. 300 The Videogame
   
6. The Godfather
   
7. Killer 7
   
8. Resident Evil 4
   
9. God of War
   
10. Hitman: Blood Money

She labeled God of War's Kratos as "the most vicious character in the video game world that people have ever seen." In addition to her top 10 list she added Loaded and the sequel Re-loaded, top-down games in the style of Gauntlet released back during the PSone era. When you're done playing, "it looks like you've emptied a ketchup bottle onto a doll house in a psychiatric ward," she said referring to the game's blood and gore.

"These games should not be bought by anyone who has a minor living in their home," Worthy advised.
