The BioShock movie may be on hold, but Marcus Fenix fights on. Latest news on the Gears of War movie suggests that New Line studio has every intention of not only finishing the film, but also making it as big and badass as the game itself.
"I think the gamer side is going to be thrilled with it," said screenwriter Chris Morgan in an interview with MTV Movies Blog. "All the stuff you want to see, we put that in there and then we blow it out a little more, even."
Morgan also revealed that a draft of the script had been completed and that the team was working on the budget for the film, which has previously been hinted to be a prequel to the events of the first game.
Gears of War and its sequel, Gears of War 2, are third-person shooters centered around the battle between humans and an infectious alien race known as the Locust. The games have sold over 11 million copies combined. The film will be directed by Len Wiseman, no stranger to the fantasy/sci-fi genre (he previously directed the first two Underworld films, which focused on the age-old battle between vampires and werewolves). No release date has been set for the Gears of War movie yet.

well movies based on video games have admittedly not done very well in the movie theaters(with a few exceptions) but the concept of a movie based on a video game sounds promising and i will definitely not just knock off this movie as another failure before actually seeing it for myself
interesting point about comic books and video games being translated into movies. i always think it's harder to translate games because (more so than other media) so often how one player experiences a game they play is vastly different than how another player might, which can make it hard to film a movie that pleases everyone. but it's also possible filmmakers just haven't 'gotten' how to do game movies yet.
I hope it dose to movies based on video games what the Tim Burtons Batman did for movies based on comic books.
