Fish Tycoon, presented by Big Fish Games is a real-time fish breeding game where you breed and care for exotic fish, specifically searching for 7 MAGIC FISH that will help you develop different hybrids leading to bigger bucks. You begin with a small number of fish, one tank, and a bit of money. You must breed the fish, and care for them, curing them when they get sick and occasionally giving them medicine to help them grow. All that depends on how much money you have, which you must make by selling the fish you breed in your shop. Being that you start out only making $4 per fish, the game starts out pretty slowly.
You begin the game with a can of fish food, a dose of growth hormone, and a set of fish eggs. You use each of these by simply dragging them into the water. And then you wait. There is a whole lot of waiting in this game since it is real time and it is about fish. The good thing about that is if you are busy at work, you can simply come back to the game when you are ready. There is also an option to make your tank your screen saver which is a nice touch.
When you begin, you have a certain number of fish from which you select pairs to breed by placing them in an isolation tank. You choose the fish by simply clicking on them and dragging them to the tank on the lower part of the screen. You must make sure they are old enough to breed, though if they're not quite ready to breed, the game will tell you. Once the fish are big enough, you may drag them into your sale tank. Once you begin to sell fish, you are then transported into your shop where people come by to check them out. You can click on the people to make them come into the shop, but not all of them will decide to buy, most choosing instead to get a cup of coffee, a car, or even a house.
Eventually you will breed the 7 MAGIC FISH, but it'll take a while to get there. Since you have the option of actual real time, or two times that rate, each game will take a while, so you'd better like fish. For $19.99 Fish Tycoon can be a great game if you want to spend the time growing and caring for your fish, but the excitement level is non-existant. If you like looking at fish, you'll like this game. Other than that though, there's not much here, but I like things crazy!
